No professional services firm can be all things to all people, despite the claims of many to the contrary. Nonetheless McCabes remains a full service firm with considerable and relevant experience in its specialist areas of Corporate Finance, Tax Consultancy and Compliance Services.
It has gained particular experience in a number of market sectors such as Creative Industries, in particular the Computer Games industry, Professional Services, Hotels and Leisure, all areas of Technology, Manufacturing and Construction, and the Charities and Not for Profit sections of the market.
Managing Partner, Jeff Meek advised Real Time Worlds, the Scottish-based games development studio in raising £1.05 million of funds from the Helsinki-based CIM Venture Fund for Creative Industries and Scottish Enterprise. Real Time Worlds is co-led by Dave Jones, founder of DMA Designs which developed 'Grand Theft Auto' and 'Lemmings'.
Meek was also behind the McCabes review of the computer games sector in Scotland undertaken on behalf of the Scottish Games Alliance and which led to the electronic games, multi-million 'New Venture Fund'.
Elsewhere, Partner, Barry Laurie, advised Voxar on a number of crucial financial issues prior to and during its £26 million acquisition by Barco NV. Laurie also provided personal tax advice to Voxar founder and CEO, Andrew Bissell and to the staff as a whole in relation to the deal.
